Software to digitalise machinery rental operations

Solutions connected to delivery, customer-site work, incidents, returns, workshop and readiness for the next rental.

Latest innovations

Innovations that accelerate every rental cycle

Five capabilities tied to the real rental cycle: document delivery and return, solve incidents on site, prepare the workshop early and return every machine to the available fleet sooner.

  • Automatic AI machine inspection

Machine condition documented on return, without a different judgement at every branch

When the rental ends — and before delivery where it applies — the machine is photographed from a mobile phone and computer-vision models identify visible damage and apparent condition issues. The output is not a loose photo: it is a structured inspection result, comparable between check-out and check-in and tied to the rental.

    • Visible damage and condition anomalies detected from images
    • Structured, comparable inspection result for delivery and return
    • Objective evidence when there is a dispute with the customer
    • Linked to the digital delivery note and signature on mobile
Operational impactFewer disputes and less time between return and the next rental
  • Automatic ECU trouble code capture

The machine's own fault code, visible in the platform without connecting to it

On machines that support it, B'Smart reads the fault and diagnostic codes generated by the control unit over CAN BUS. Where the machine exposes no standard data, we decode the bus or capture the signal with direct sensors. The code reaches the platform with machine, timestamp and operating context.

    • Manufacturer DTCs received automatically over CAN BUS
    • Bus decoding and reverse engineering when required
    • Event context: hours, temperature, load and location
    • Notification routed by hierarchical alarm
Operational impactBetter-prepared technicians and fewer inspection visits
  • Mobile operator guidance

Whoever stands next to the machine understands what happened and what to do

When a trouble code or anomaly is detected, the operator or technician opens the alert on their phone and gets a plain-language explanation of the detected problem and the recommended action. No physical connection and no diagnostic equipment on site.

    • Mobile alert explaining the code or anomaly detected
    • Recommended action and urgency level for the operator
    • No physical connection or diagnostic tool required
    • Escalation to technical service when the incident needs it
Operational impactFaster response at the customer and less downtime
  • Predictive maintenance

Plan the intervention before the machine stops

Using each machine's history and current data we anticipate degradation and maintenance needs, and turn them into planned services instead of urgent repairs. Planning follows real usage, not a theoretical calendar.

    • Models over each machine's historical and current data
    • Services planned by real usage
    • Prevention of critical conditions such as DPF clogging
    • Heat maps of pending maintenance and inspections
Operational impactMaintenance fitted between rentals and more availability
  • Automatic anomaly detection

Deviations detected before a threshold or an obvious failure

Analytics learn each machine's normal behaviour in its usual work and continuously compare incoming data against that pattern. Abnormal consumption, temperature, load or usage surfaces before any fixed threshold would flag it.

    • Continuous analysis of each machine's real behaviour
    • Abnormal patterns flagged without waiting for a fixed threshold
    • Genset overloads, traction batteries, temperature or consumption
    • Hierarchical alarms by severity and recipient
Operational impactFewer unexpected breakdowns and greater fleet profitability

How it fits the rental cycle

Delivery, customer-site work, incidents, return and preparation: data follows the machine throughout the rental.

  1. 01

    Delivery

AI inspection and digital delivery note with signature on mobile: condition documented on the way out.

  2. 02

    On site

Continuous analytics: ECU trouble codes and automatic anomaly detection over real usage.

  3. 03

    Incident

Alert with explanation and recommended action on the operator's phone; remote diagnosis by the technician.

  4. 04

    Return and turnaround

Post-rental inspection, prioritised maintenance and preparation to start billing again sooner.

01

Predictive maintenance and breakdown prevention

Plan workshop work before a failure interrupts the rental

Analytics and machine learning over each machine's real behaviour to detect deviations and plan interventions before failure. It includes protection against critical conditions such as DPF clogging, over-temperature or fuel starvation.

Operational impactMore maintenance between rentals and fewer customer-site emergencies

What is included

  • Automatic anomaly detection against each machine's normal pattern
  • Maintenance and pending inspection alerts
  • DPF clogging prevention, with configurable start inhibition
  • Genset overloads, traction batteries, inclinometer and overweight

02

Remote diagnostics

Know what happened on site before dispatching a technician

ECU fault and diagnostic codes reach the platform the moment they occur, with usage context. The workshop decides with information before dispatching a technician.

Operational impactFewer trips and a more efficient technical service

What is included

  • ECU fault and diagnostic codes in the platform
  • Usage, hours and conditions at the time of the fault
  • Hierarchical alarms by severity and recipient
  • Remote parameter calibration and, where technically possible, remote ECU reset

03

Rental fleet availability and profitability

Know what can be rented, what is working and which usage to bill

Fleet monitoring and usage analytics to understand real availability, productive hours and performance per machine, branch or customer.

Operational impactMore availability, fleet rotation and billed usage hours

What is included

  • Fleet monitoring plus usage and business analytics
  • Heat maps of machines and of pending maintenance or inspections
  • Detection of unbilled machine hours
  • Sector benchmarking

04

Security, theft and remote control

Control the machine while it is away from the branch

Theft protection with backup tracking and geofencing, plus remote action on the machine where the equipment supports it.

Operational impactGreater asset control and lower loss risk

What is included

  • Backup tracking with GPS/LBS/Wi-Fi and geofencing
  • Remote stop/start or start inhibition where supported
  • Device installation and disconnection alerts
  • Hierarchical alarms by criticality

05

Operational digitalisation

Documented deliveries and returns, without scattered photos or paperwork

Digitalisation of the processes that still rely on paper and phone calls: delivery notes, signatures and machine inspection before and after rental where applicable.

Operational impactFaster returns and fewer damage disputes

What is included

  • Digital delivery note and signature from mobile
  • AI machine inspection before and after rental where applicable
  • Traceability of deliveries, returns and equipment condition
  • Training and follow-up of customer personnel

Profitability and TCO

Asset profitability: reducing total cost of ownership

For an equipment rental business every machine is an investment that has to pay back. Digitalisation cuts direct and hidden fleet costs across the whole asset lifecycle.

  • Direct costs you cut

    • Avoidable technician trips resolved by remote diagnostics
    • Emergency repairs replaced by planned maintenance
    • Major damage prevented (DPF saturation, temperature, overloads)
    • Fuel use and misuse detected from real machine data
  • Hidden costs you remove

    • Machine hours stopped and never invoiced
    • Workshop and technician time spent on checks
    • Rentals lost through lack of availability
    • Return disputes and customer penalties
  • Lifecycle economics

    • Better cost per operating hour as utilisation rises
    • Longer service life with maintenance done on time
    • Renewal and purchase decisions based on per-machine data
    • Higher residual value at the end of the asset's cycle

Multi-brand rental fleets

Compatible with the rental fleet you already own

Fleet variety does not hold back the project: we unify different makes, models and years through CAN BUS, direct sensors or OEM APIs.

  • Construction and industrial machinery

Excavators, loaders, dumpers and compactors with CAN BUS reading or direct sensors.

  • Lifting and access platforms

Usage control, inclinometer, overweight and pre-delivery inspection.

  • Gensets

Monitoring and control: overloads, underloads and unbalanced loads.

  • Traction batteries

Water level, charge and discharge cycles and battery health.

  • Auxiliary site equipment

Compressors, light towers, pumps and support equipment on the same data layer.

  • Mixed machinery fleets

Machines of different families, brands and years unified without changing systems.
